Ludhiana, Ludhiana MP and National spokesperson of the Congress Manish Tewari today rapped the local civic authorities for failing to provide basic civic amenities to the people here.

Addressing a felicitation function organised by the Urban Development Cell of the Punjab Pradesh Congress committee, Mr Tewari pointed out, the city was already inundated, even before the formal commencement of monsoon.

The Ludhiana MP asked the Municipal authorities to ensure that people were not made to suffer no this account. He said, not just the poor drainage and sewerage system, the Corporation had even failed to provide clean drinking water to the residents of the city as most of the water samples had failed the laboratory tests for human consumption.

He said, the consequences were obvious as a number of gastroenteritis cases had been reported across the city and warned that the officials would be held liable for their omissions and commissions.

On the occasion, the Urban Development Cell also presented Mr Tewari with an award of ”Voice of Ludhiana”.
