Teachers in Aurangabad ZP to go on strike from Aug 4

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, About 10,000 teachers including headmasters, of Zilla Parshads (ZP) in Maharashtra will go on an indefinite strike from August four demanding revision in salaries as per the Sixth Pay Commission.

A coordination committee of the teachers’ organizations has warned that they would launch the strike if their demands were not met immediately.

The committee has also submitted a memorandum to Chief minister Ashok Chavan stating that the primary teachers in the state should get salary as per the sixth pay commission recommendations of the Central government.

The committee further stated that policy of appointing the Shikshan Sevak should be scrapped and instead they should be given salary of Rs 10,000 per month adding that the Centre chiefs and Headmasters should be allotted separate pay scales.

The various teachers organizations have observed a token strike to press their demands on July 14 and July 22 but in vain.
