Stem Cell Therapeutics launched in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, The Catalyz Life Technologies, a Technopark-based incubation company, has announced the launch of Stem Cells Therapeutics, an emerging technology that could be used to treat patients with incurable diseases.

Stem Cell Therapeutics will be established in Kerala through Catalyz, a new generation Healthcare Innovations Company focused on point-of-care diagnostics and stem cell therapeutics.

The company recently signed an MoU with the US-based International Stem Cell Services Ltd (ISS) to bring stem cell therapies to patients with incurable diseases.

Dr Biju Jacob, CEO of Catalyz, told newspersons here hospitals across the State would be offered support for setting up regenerative therapy centres and training provided to surgeons through CME programmes.

Hospitals with all the necessary facilities would be accredited for carrying out the stem cell therapies and thereby considered as recognized by ISS for regenerative therapy.

He said the company was also developing proprietary diagnostics and prognostics platforms for different infectious and chronic diseases using patented technologies for rapid, sensitive, specific and low-cost diagnostics.

The potential application of stem cell therapies was wide and covered a large spectrum of diseases.

Some of the diseases that could be treatable with stem cell therapies include: Type I diabetes, Cardiac Ischemia, Myocardial Infarction, Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Stroke, Limb ischemia, Diabetic Ulcers, Liver disease, Kidney failure, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.
