Notorious gangster beaten by rival gang members

Sangrur, A notorious gangster and undetrail was beaten by about a dozen members of a rival gang at the courts complex in Sunam today.

Police sources said that undertrial Sukhbir Singh, who is imprisoned at the Central Jail here was taken to Sunam in connection with the hearing of a case. As he alighted from the police van in courts complex, memebrs of a rivl gang pounced on him and beat him with bare fists and then fled as the police intervened.

The undertrail was rescued by the policemen accompanying him and was later safely escorted back to the jail. He did not receive any serious injuries.

The police has identified four of the attackers and have registered a case.
