Mra hopes to inspire youth for taking up adventure sports

Itanagar, Arunachalese mountaineer Tapi Mra hopes that his success story of scaling the world’s highest peak Mt Everest would inspire the youth for taking to adventure sports.

”It is sad to know that Arunachalese are not taking interest in mountaineering despite being blessed with Himalayan foot-hill, full of steep mountains around,” he said at a function organised at Ziro in Lower Subansiri district recently.

”Adventurous sports like mountaineering are not identified as a potential area to be tapped in the state. We can produce successful mountaineers, if people extend their support and the government frames a suitable policy with incentives,” he added.
