Nahan, British Raj hospital, once designed to provide round the clock health services to the people of this region in Sangrah district, is in a pathetic state.

The Hospital should have a strength of 29 doctors, but only 10 of them are actually working.

Patients, who come here for treatment, alleged that there is no supply of free medicines in the hospital.

Surat Ram, a localite, lamented that the hospital opened from 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs only and had no provision for an emergency case. He said when serious patients came here, more often they were referred to district hospital, Nahan, due to non-availability of doctors or lack of other basic facilities.

When UNI contacted Block Medical Officer(BMO) Dr D K Singh, he said ,”The hospital cannot function round the clock due to shortage of staff.” With the present strength, only the routine health services from 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs could be provided, he added.

In the absence of modern equipment and sufficient staff, the British Raj Hospital is failing to fulfil the agenda for which it was formed long ago.
