London, With concerns over funding and opposition from several counties putting the future of the prosposed P20 tournament in doubt, the ECB is yet to decide on the prospect of the English Twenty20 event.

The T20 event, scheduled to be kicked off from June next year, has already run into trouble with counties not satisfied with its schedule, which will clash with other domestic events.

It has been also learnt that the ability of English teams to compete in the BCCI-run Champions League was doubtful.

”We’re looking at various options that are available for the future,” ECB chief executive David Collier said.

”There are two basic options which are two competitions during the year or one competition over a prolonged period of time.

”The one competition has its advantages in that it doesn’t create confusion in the market place, plus the fact that over a period of time, international players can come in and out to play for the counties,” he added.

The ECB chief further said the event could witness players from around the world who won’t enroll themselves in much cricket in the summers.

”The two-competition basis has the advantage of a very concentrated base, where you have players around the world who tend not to play much cricket in June.

”They are the choices we’re going to make with the counties who we’re going to consult with over the next month,” Collier told the BBC.
