Vijayawada, About 20,000 devotees today worshipped Goddess Kanakadurga atop Indrakeeladri hill here on the occasion of “Sakambari Devi” festival.

The pilgrims thronged the temple for the three-day festival during the ”Ashada Masam”, considered an auspicious month as per traditional Hindu calendar year.

Many devotees offered vegetables to the Goddess before having ‘darshan’. The entrance of the temple was decorated with a garland of fresh fruits.

During the festival, special ”Poojas, ” including ”Mahavidya Prayana,” were performed, temple sources told UNI.

Since the last two years, a new custom was started to appease the Goddess for rains and good harvest.

It was estimated that about 10 tonne of vegetables were being used to adorne the deity during the three days, the sources added.
