CM promises Piped gas, Rs 20,000 development plan for Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Ahead of the civic polls in the state capital, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today promised the people of the metropolis to spend over Rs 20,000 crore for improvement of the civic infrastructure in the ever-growing city.

The Chief Minister also promised to provide piped cooking gas to the people at a low cost of Rs 200 per month, a release from the Chief Minister’s office said.

Dr Reddy, also promised to facilitate opening of 1000 Compressed Natural Gas(CNG) filling stations in the state taking a cue from the Delhi Government.

The Chief Minister, who had met with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, pressed for rightful share of natural gas from the Krishna-Godavari basin discovered and commercialised by the Reliance Industries Limited, it said.

He impressed upon Dr Singh saying that trade and commerce in Hyderabad had not been affected much because of the global economic downturn and cited a World Bank report in this regard, it added.
