ATM door gets stuck, Cell phones to the rescue

Chennai, Fire Services Personnel today came to the rescue of a nationalised bank’s customers after they were stuck in the ATM of the bank’s Tambaram Branch when its door could not be opened.

Fire Service sources said here in the first case, two customers of the bank, A Karthikeyan and J Johnson, both Assistant Engineers in TN Electricity Board at Perumbakkam and Medavakkam respectively, tried to open the door after drawing cash at 0545 hrs, but could not.

They immediately called the Fire Services personnel from their mobile.

A team rushed to the spot and prised open the door.

Later, they inserted a magnetic lock by removing the ordinary lock in the door.

Few hours later, two engineering college students, Ashok Kumar and Aswin, entered the bank’s ATM at 0840 hrs to withdraw cash and found the same problem confronting them.

They too, informed the Fire Service Department from their mobile and were rescued after the personnel removed the magnetic lock and opened the door.
