Rattle & Hum to exhibit in Mumbai

Kohima, The Rattle & Hum, renowned music society of North East will organize a handshake concert and Naga folk music at the St. Andrews’ auditorium in Mumbai on June 21.

Addressing a press conference here today Rattle & Hum Music Society president Theja Meru and Patron Khriehu Liezietsu informed that the concert would be organized in partnership with the Rollingstone magazine of Mumbai, with an aim to promote and exchange culture with the mainland.

The concert has been sponsored by the Nagaland Government, Department of Art, Culture and the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, Nagaland State AIDS Control Society, India Post, Radio One and Muspace.com.

Altogether ten musicians will participate in the Handshake Concert, which include music groups- Cultural Vibrants, Eximious and Chakhesang and Angami folk songs. The stage will be shared by Grammy Award winner Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and popular bands like Soulmate from Shillong and Hipnotribe from Mumbai, they informed.

The Rattle & Hum hopes to organize World Music Day celebration in New Delhi in 2010.
